Critics Point Out Key Moment Trump Lost the Debate

Kamala Harris delivered sharp critiques of Donald Trump in the recent presidential debate, specifically calling out Trump’s perceived weaknesses in topics such as abortion, foreign policy, and healthcare, as reported by OK Magazine.

Harris was praised for effectively challenging Trump on key issues while maintaining a calm demeanor. In contrast, Trump frequently interrupted and offered deflections, rather than answers.

Harris especially attacked his stance on the Affordable Care Act, claiming that he would eliminate it without a replacement plan. “I have concepts of a plan,” Trump said when pressed.

New Republic editor Michael Tomasky condemned Trump’s “concepts of a plan” comment, calling it one of the most embarrassing lines in debate history. Tomasky argues this is the point where Trump clearly lost in the debate. “While ‘I have concepts of a plan’ was the worst and dumbest sentence he uttered,” Tomasky said, “a close second would have to be, ‘Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison.’ The only thing he left out of that sentence is that she plans to steer the catering contract to Comet Ping Pong.”

“I have concepts of a plan,” Tomasky said, “is going to go down in presidential debate lore as one of the most pathetic lines in debate history.”

Tomasky praised Harris for her performance, noting that she effectively challenged Trump, while suggesting that Trump’s poor responses overshadowed her strengths.

“Kamala Harris was really good Tuesday night — really, really good,” Tomasky wrote. “She accomplished everything she needed to accomplish. She sliced and diced him. She dangled bait, and he leapt at the hook. But as good as she was, Trump was more bad than Harris was good.”

He warned that if Trump focuses on complaining about the debate moderators, it may further shed light his unappealing qualities as the election approaches.

“Of course, there’s a chance Trump will turn it around,” Tomasky concluded. “But we may have just witnessed the beginning of a downward spiral that’s going to get weirder and worse over the next 55 days. Pass the popcorn.”
